Dr Frances Baker MBBS DFSRH

Women Health / Sexual Health Specialist

Dr Frances Baker MBBS DFSRH

Speciality Doctor: Contraception & Sexual Health.

Frances trained at The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in London; gaining her medical degree in 1988. She completed her GP training and had her first child in 1993 - and spent the next twelve years juggling the needs of her family with her part-time career: General Practice sessions in Witney; Genito-Urinary medicine (GUM) clinics in Oxford and Banbury; and later adding locum sessions in Family Planning Clinics across Oxfordshire.

Her decision to specialise in Sexual Health was taken when her family moved to York in 2006. She worked in the GUM clinics at Harrogate and York and joined the Family Planning (now "CaSH") team in York. She completed the Faculty training required to provide coils and implants and the qualification to be able to train others in the specialty.

She was the Clinical Lead for the Contraception team for 2 years prior to integration of the two services and is currently the York General Programme Training Director for the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health.

Already "dual trained" with over twenty years' experience screening for sexually transmitted infections and trained in all aspects of contraception, Frances was enthusiastic about working within the newly combined "Integrated Sexual Health Service" launched in July 2015 across North Yorkshire. She particularly enjoys the direct clinical care - the patients in clinic; training nursing colleagues from the two specialties and offering practical training sessions to local GPs.

Frances has two children: her son has recently graduated from Drama School and her daughter is completing a degree in Primary School teaching. She prioritises her leisure time maintaining relationships with family and friends around the country, has travelled widely, and enjoys theatre and dance.
She does charity work as a listening volunteer.

Frances is delighted to have been asked to join the medical team at Stonegate and looks forward to providing a discrete screening service and sexual health advice for people who prefer not to access NHS services.

Consultant Paediatrician

Dr Tim Ubhi BSc (Hons) MB ChB MRCP FRCPCH

Interests: Baby & child health, general paediatrics, neonatology, cerebral palsy, asthma, gastroesophageal reflux disease, childhood cancers.

Dr Tim Ubhi is a Consultant Paediatrician & a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child health. He has over 24 years experience in child health.
Dr Ubhi undertook his undergraduate studies at Leeds university where he obtained his degrees in medicine and surgery together with a batchelor of science degree in genetics & biochemistry. He went on to spend 12 years at St James’s university hospital in Leeds many of which were as a university lecturer in paediatrics and child health. He was responsible for the training of undergraduate students in paediatrics & child health and has seen many of his former students go on and establish successful careers as paediatricians in the UK.
Whilst at St James’s university hospital, Dr Ubhi completed his research to help children with cerebral palsy to walk using botulinum toxin (Botox). For this piece of work he was awarded the prestigious Michael Blacow memorial prize by the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health. Dr Ubhi was then awarded a medical research council clinical training fellowship to develop novel treatments for children’s cancers. A large part of his training was in paediatric oncology with a particular interest in Ewing’s sarcoma but more recently Dr Ubhi has focussed on general paediatrics. As a consultant and clinical director in the Yorkshire region he noted the improvements in patient care that were necessary in order for paediatrics and child care to change so that we provided the best care for our patients, avoided unnecessary hospital admissions and reduced unnecessary illness in our paediatric population. Dr Ubhi has completed the NHS leadership academy Nye Bevan executive training programme and graduated in March 2016. He founded the Children's e-Hospital on-line child health service in 2015 and is looking at using innovative ways to improve child health delivery in the UK including the use of novel devices to help measure how unwell a child is and to help determine whether or not they need to seek medical help. One of these devices, the HOTPOD®, will allow parents to make a robust assessment of their child’s health with specialist paediatric support available on-line to help guide them.
Dr Ubhi teamed up with Stonegate medical in 2017 and was drawn by their passion to provide the very best care to their patients. Because of his broad background in paediatrics, Dr Ubhi is happy to see most paediatric problems and if he can’t help he will help direct your care to the most appropriate person.
Dr Ubhi has 3 grown up children the eldest of which is currently studying medicine in London and who hopes to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Dr Ubhi has a passion for helping those in society who are most in need. He has been involved in disaster relief work following the tsunami in Thailand and more recently, through the efforts of the charitable arm of the Children’s e-Hospital, has been involved in helping refugee children affected by the Syrian refugee crisis. His work has involved direct medical support to medical teams on the ground in disaster zones and also being politically proactive to help vulnerable children.
