Interests: nutrition for endurance athletes, women’s health, weight management, personalised nutrition, integrated health and work life balance, applying research in clinical practice.

Following an initial career in business, Jane has worked as a nutrition practitioner since 2000. She has a MSc (with distinction) in Nutritional Medicine from the University of Surrey where her research focused on dietary approaches and nutritional knowledge amongst non-elite marathon runners. She also has many years experience in the training and education of nutrition practitioners having worked as a Senior Lecturer and Clinic Supervisor on BSc and MSc programmes in nutrition at the University of Westminster, London for 12 years. However, she is equally happy to support anybody seeking to manage health concerns through a comprehensive, personalised nutrition and lifestyle programme. Jane also delivers nutrition workshops and training for a range of professional groups and for the public.

In 2010, Jane received the CAM Award for Individual Excellence in Nutritional Knowledge, and in 2011 the Yakult prize for Outstanding Student of the Year at the University of Surrey.

How I Work – Client Information – Jane Nodder, Nutrition Practitioner

Thank you for expressing interest in a nutrition consultation with Jane Nodder. This sheet is designed to answer any questions you may have and tell you what to expect at your consultation. If after reading it, you still have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Jane on 07850 705848.

We’re all individuals with individual lifestyles and nutritional needs. Information about diet and healthy eating is plentiful, but so are the myths, making it hard to know what’s right for you. A nutritional approach is about helping you get the nutrients your body needs to function at its best and helping you understand how your current diet & lifestyle may be contributing to your health concerns or performance issues.

Your First Consultation:

Before your first consultation, you will be asked to complete a Nutrition Programme Questionnaire to provide details that will help me understand your nutritional needs. Don’t worry if you can’t answer all of the questions or are not sure what to put. At your consultation, we will go through your questionnaire together and look in more depth at the factors that may be contributing to your current situation. Following our discussion, I will recommend a personalised diet and lifestyle programme for you to take away and implement. Everything will be written down, so you won’t need to remember details or take notes.

Follow-up Consultations

After this, I’ll usually suggest that we meet again to follow-up your progress after three-four weeks and then again after two to three months. During these sessions, we may start to tackle other areas in the overall strategy for improving your health or your performance. This may mean making further changes to your diet and lifestyle. Follow-up consultations can also be completed over the Internet or by telephone.

Vitamin & Mineral Supplements

My preferred approach is to support your nutritional status through food i.e. by changing your diet. However, it is sometimes useful to support dietary changes with specific vitamins and minerals if there are indications that you may benefit from these. As a result, I may discuss appropriate nutritional supplements with you at your consultation. Please note that I do not receive any commission for the sale of any products.

Telephone Support

I am available for short telephone calls to discuss any questions or concerns you might have about your programme in the early stages. This support will be explained at your consultation.

  • Consultations cost £100 for one hour including your personalised diet and nutrition programme.
  • Subsequent consultations cost £75 for 45 minutes.
  • Telephone follow-ups and/or email support cost £100/pro-rata for the actual time spent.

Costs exclude any supplements and tests I might recommend. Full details of these will always be discussed at your consultation where appropriate.

A minimum of 24 hours noticed is required otherwise a 50% cancellation fee will be applied.

Contact With Your GP

Nutritional counselling is not a replacement for medical treatment. As a result of your consultation, I may recommend that you discuss any issues that may need further investigation with your GP. If you are taking medication, please do not stop or change the dose without first consulting your GP.
