Reasons to see a dietitian
Your diet can affect all aspects of your health both mentally and physically. Having the correct advice and breaking those habits of yo-yo dieting and unhealthy eating can help improve a number of issues and conditions, for example:
· Improve digestion issues such as IBS
· Improve and prevent medical conditions such as high cholesterol, diabetes and cardiovascular heart disease
· Increase your chances of losing weight and maintaining this
· Dealing with menopause and hormonal health
· Eating disorder advice
· Maximise your chances of getting pregnant
· If you are thinking of having gastric bypass surgery
What to expect in your consultation
In your first appointment the dietitian will want to learn more about you and the issues you are having. You will discuss your eating habits, lifestyle and also your questions linking to your home life and current health. Especially in cases where weight loss is an issue, you will also discuss your emotional relationship with food.
This information will help the dietitian create an easy to follow plan to help you make small, realistic changes to your eating habits and lifestyle to help improve your concerns.
It may be appropriate to keep a food diary for three days before your consultation so you can review this with the dietitian.
